I installed this on my daughter's bike for use in college. When you install, you attach one end to the frame and wind the other around the seat post before attaching to the seat so that there is not enough slack to pull the seat completely out of the post. You have to dissassemble the seat to attach the cable, then reassemble. By the way, buy a regular nut to replace the quick-release for the seat. Why make it easier for a thief.
Thieves could reverse the assembly process to steal the seat or cut the cable if they are carrying a cable cutter but this hasn't happened. Instead, they go to another bike that doesn't have the cable. My daughter has come back to her bike to find the seat loosened but still there.
