We bought this for our son when he was 11 months old. I couldn't wait until his birthday to give it to him so we put it together and used it around the house for about a month. He loved it from the beginning! I am sure it said 9-36 months on the package when I bought this so we knew it was a toy that would be in use for a long time.
We take walks with it almost daily. The handle broke where it joins with the car from having to lift the car to turn or go on curbs, step 2 customer service sent us a new handle very quickly. I anticipate it wearing out again becuase we use it so much and I hope they will send another handle again!
My son is now almost 2 and can get in and out himself. He went through a phase of putting his feet out while we were walking but we just stopped and kept reminding him to put his feet inside. We always use the buckle to keep him seated while walking.
This really is a stroller replacement for us. My son loves the perspective it gives him. When we go to the playground all of the kids run over to the car and start climbing in and out. Well worth the $ for 2 summer's worth of walking - and most likely we'll get a 3rd summer out of it.
