Seat is outstanding. CRITICAL to know: Many bikes actually don't have the proper seat stay (tail part of frame) to mount the child seat - here's what you must check on your bike before you buy - or be prepared to get creative - and don't expect help from Topeak or the bike shops because I'm sure they prefer not to hold any liability... The two bars which go from the rear axle of every bike up to the back of the seat post are called the seat stays. (See wikipedia for a diagram on bike parts).

The manual literally reads "The Topeak BabySeat is designed to work on frames with seatstay rack mounts AND threaded dropout eyelets only. Do not use the Topeak BabySeat on frames without these fittings for safety reasons."

Much to my shock, many bikes do not have screw mounting posts on each seat stay and Topeak doesn't point out that BSII requires a bike with these posts. The reason is that the black rack (which serves as the base of the baby seat) has two steal bars which extend from the front of the rack down to the top point of the seat stay and it serves to stabilize and hold stationary the rack and ultimately your baby. (Without them it would just pivot on the screws which connect at the axle) and the whole thing would flip back to the ground.

The problem is, the rods are pre-bent and have pre-drilled holes which are specifically engineered to connect to a dual connection seat stay. My wife's Schwinn Sierra only has the patented Schwinn single point seat stay - not compatible; nor did my Novara (REI) Mnt. Bike, or either of my parent's cruisers. Moreover, we went to the bike shop today and a ton of the bikes on the shelf don't have them. Topeak literally says the child seat will not work or mount on bikes without them (the guy at REI urgently reminded me of this when I asked him about clamping it over the phone..., so what's a desperate father to do? I found a creative, but VERY SAFE fix. I recommend you try to find a bike shop to advise if you really want this seat, but be fore-warned - it very well could not work at all with your bike. As a business person I am shocked the engineers at Topeak designed such an innovative product, but got away with designing it like that - they probably lost a huge portion of the addressable market by that single move. I bought two pairs of these skates for my 4 year old twins. We've had them out 4 times ans so far so good. They are easy to get into and the velcro at the top lets you pull the skate tightly across. Huffy Green Machine Immediately

The Green Machine has been a daily part of our son's activity for two years now, and is still going strong. He has disabilities with balance and vision, but this ride has been a liberator for him.

There is a fair amount of assembly required, but the instructions were accurate and everything fit together nicely. The only negative we experienced was the chassis wasn't welded straight, so the front wheel is tilted noticeably. We probably could have exchanged it, but it works OK, and it was nearly impossible to get him away from it long enough to take it back.

Our son gets a constant stream of kids coming over to look at the Green Machine as he rides with us all over our small town - usually three to four miles at a time. A lot of adult "kids" are wistful about it, too. It's big enough for the average adult; my wife is 5'8" and it fits her comfortably. Our son is 4'9" tall, and still has the seat positioned most of the way forward.

It will be a good part of childhood to remember!

I have had other Bell U-locks before and this one has the same high quality as the others. You can tell a good quality lock from a cheap one by the way the key feels as it turns and also the resistance against pulling out/putting in the "U" from the lock (the lock being the part which the key fits). The key turns smoothly and the U is easy to remove from the lock. This is definitely worth buying.

The only small problem, and I have had this problem with every U-lock from every brand, is that the plastic caddy to attach the u-lock to the bike while not in use breaks very easily. Shop For Schwinn Scorcher Boy's Bike (16-Inch Wheels, Red)

This Schwinn bike has held up so well over the years. I bet we have at least 200 miles on this bike, in that we rode one summer 10 miles per day on the Erie Canal. The gearing of this bike is just enough so that the kids are not having to pedal like crazy to keep up, nor is it so low that they cant make it up small hills. The training wheels have wore out and we replaced them but that was after many months of riding all the time. We gave this to my daughter after my son moved up in bike size. Its cool colors for a girl too. She looks great on it and is having a blast this spring riding it on our driveway/street.

Great quality, only minor oiling of the chain and pumping of the tires and its still going strong. I discouraged my son from skidding to a stop, (which I still like to do) and that has saved the back tire. Even so, I think we have another year left in these tires.

Comfort (+)
Once you have the seat height set the kids never complained about their tush's hurting at all on long rides. Hand brakes can be a bit hard for the kids to use at the bottom end of the age group, however, there are always the pedal brakes so they have many options to stop.

Kryptonite Keeper 12 LS Bicycle U-Lock with Bracket Bicycle U-Lock (4-Inch x 11.5-Inch)

This bike lock is a vast improvement over the cable lock I had been using (which was eventually cut by a bike thief with a bolt cutter, resulting in the loss of 2 very nice bicycles!).

I like this lock because the bracket is longer than most locks of its kind, making it easier to use and easier to fit around two bikes.

It has two drawbacks, however.

First, the key/lock mechanism is a little difficult to work with. It's one of those "You've gotta jiggle the key just right" situations. But with a little extra effort, it does eventually work.

Secondly, because of the extended bracket, I am not able to store it on the bike frame while I'm riding. So wherever I go, I must either put the lock in my backpack, or hang the lock on the handlebars.

THIS IS not a toy for unsupervised children, no matter their age. My son, only 2 years old was very badly injured (broken leg in two places) due to being run over by another child as they came down the ramp.
