I think this is a great lock. I am careful with the key (I read a few reviews where people said they had issues), and have not had any problems with it. The length is just right if you end up in situations where you don't have a proper rack to lock your bike to. This lock has worked around parking meters, poles, trees, benches - you name it, it manages to secure my bike without any problems (so far!).
